Match Reports 2007-8 Season - Under 10 Match Reports 2007/8

Cambridge did fantastically well in the pool, winning all 6 games and only conceding one try.  Great teamwork from all of the team, with good passing, great scrum, hard tackling and determined running.  The team were beaten by Peterborough in the semi-final after a very hard fought game....Peterborough scoring the only try moments before the final whistle.


Cambridge 30 – Haverhill 0

Quick first try from Jonah got Cambridge off to a good start.  The Cambridge forwards tackled well, and there was good passing out to the wings.  Things were looking good for Cambridge.  Early in the second half, a great rip from Louis Bodrozic led to a scramble on the try line with Hugh Barker touching down for Cambridge.  Harry Connor got the last try from a line-out.

Cambridge 10 – Wisbech 0
Try scorers :    Jonah Omitowoju x2

Wisbech proved harder opposition, with the score 0-0 at half time.  Cambridge scrummage worked well in the second half, with a great win by Robert getting the ball to Jonah for the first try.  A hard fought ball from Milo to Euan went out to Jonah for the second.

Cambridge 15 – Huntingdon 0

Excellent scrummaging from Cambridge.  A hard fought maul led to an interception by Hugh Barker who got the first try.  Robert Marmion ripped the ball and scored.  The final try came from good wide play, a rip from Ed with the ball going out to Robert who scored.

Cambridge 35 – Wendens Ambo 0

Jonah started explosively, offloading the ball to Euan who scored.  Cambridge dominated play, with great team-work.  Fantastic play from Jonah, scoring try after try after try.

Cambridge 20 – Royston 0
Try scorers :    Sam Mace x1

    Ben Taylor x1
    Harry Molton x1

Good wide play from the start with lots of passing, and Sam Mace making it over.  This was followed by a period of long hard-fought play in the Royston half, culminating in a great run from Louis Bodrozic passing out to Hugh who scored.  The third try came from a line-out going from Sam to Ben Taylor who neatly side-stepped to score.  Final try was Harry Molton’s, a stalwart of the ruck.


Cambridge 30 – St Neots 5

A good drive over from the forwards and Milo Reynolds was over the line.  Excellent teamwork followed with good hard rucking, mauling and passing;  Jonah Omitowoju doing some fantastic runs to put the ball over the line another five times.  St Neots didn’t know what had hit them.

Semi Final

Cambridge 0 – Peterborough 5
The first half saw hard fought play in the centre with some good scrums from Cambridge, who dominated, but weren’t able to score in the first half.

Peterborough gained strength in the second half, although there were great runs from Sam Mace and Harry Connor.  After some very hard play, Peterborough finally forced the ball over the line to score the only try in the dying seconds of the game.
