Cambridge ‘Sand’ 0 – Towcester 10
Great tackles from Louis, Jonah and Harry Connor kept Towcester away
for the Cambridge line. They won four lineouts against a very
determined Towcester team. Hugh Barker received an injury in a brave
tackle and had to be taken off. Cambridge maintained the pressure, with
fine runs from Jonah, Harry Molton and Sam Mace, but Towcester went 5
ahead at half time.
The second half saw a much tighter formation from Cambridge, pushing
into the Towcester half. Under pressure Cambridge worked well together
with good tackles from the forwards, but Towcester eventually broke
through for their second. The 10- 0 defeat was accepted with good grace
by the Cambridge team
Cambridge ‘Sand’ 20- Beford Red 0
A scrappy start from Cambridge, but a great rip from Harry Connor, and
a drive forward from Harry Molton soon put Cambridge in the Bedford
half. An offload to Jonah and good co-ordinated play gave Robert the
chance to go over for the first. Cambridge dominated the game,
spreading the ball around. Louis won a Bedford lineout and the ball was
quickly over to Jonah who powered over the line for the second.
Cambridge made a great start and maintained a good formation. Bedford
were ready this time and runs from Harry Molton, Jonah and Louis were
blocked .Finally a Cambridge scrum provided the opportunity which
Robert seized and was over for the third try. Bedford started fighting
back. From a scrum in the Cambridge half, Ben Taylor scooped the ball
up and side stepped his way down the field. This was followed by a fine
run from Jonah to secure the fourth.
Cambridge ‘Sand’ 35- Bedford Blue 0
A fine start with two tries in the first minute and half. Milo driving
over the line and Robert’s powerful run. Impressive attacking skills
put Sam Mace just short of the line. Not to be deterred Robert got the
third. Bedford picked up the pace and made some headway into the
Cambridge half. Not for long. With solid support Cambridge were soon
back. A great run from Ben Taylor, breaking through the tackles, before
offloading to Marcus who powered over the line.
The second half saw a great interception from Jonah who confidently
crossed the line for the fifth. Good supporting play from the forwards
and Louis was out with a fine run down the wing for the sixth. Bedford
headed towards the Cambridge line, but Euan made a great tackle which
saw them pushed back. A penalty for Bedford gave them another chance,
but Cambridge were just too strong. A great ruck from the forwards,
sheer grit from Louis and Cambridge had their 7th.
