Cambridge ‘Blood’ 20 – Letchworth ‘B’ 5

Cambridge showed good defensive play, and hard pressure allowed Connor Smith to get the first try of the game for Cambridge with a fantastic run pulling away from the opposition as he went.  Letchworth equalised, but Cambridge fought back, with some particularly strong scrummaging.  Connor Smith scored again for Cambridge to make it 10-5 at half time.

In the second half, excellent tackling from Cambridge meant Letchworth were kept at bay.  A strong team effort saw trys from Euan Traynor and Harry Easton to finish the match 20-5.

Cambridge ‘Sand’ 25 – Letchworth ‘A’ 0

A great start, with a powerful run from Jonah Omitowoju securing the first try. Excellent team work out of the scrum from Louis Bodrozic to Robert Marmion and Jonah touched down for the second. This seemed to wake Letchworth up. They made a few challenges and play stayed in the middle. Not for long, as an interception from Sam Mace provided the opportunity for Cambridge to forge into the Letchworth half. Great scrummaging from the forwards, and Hugh Barker delivered the ball to  Ben Taylor, who  side stepped his way to the try line, but was brought down. Determined mauling from Ed Hyde and the ball was free. It was quickly out to Jonah who spun out of a tackle to claim the third. Letchworth picked up the pace and headed towards the Cambridge end. Determination and commitment from the team saw Cambridge 15 nil up at half time.

The second half saw a very determined Letchworth gaining ground. Great tackling from Harry Connor, James Young and Jonah brought the game back to the middle. Cambridge kept their formation and supported each other spreading the ball around. The break through came, from Robert Marmion as he forged his way through the defence for the fourth. Harry Molton, Marcus Lankford and Robert Marmion continued to apply pressure to Letchworth. From a maul the ball was out to Sam Mace, offloading to Jonah en route for the fifth. Letchworth found it hard to keep pace with this well drilled Cambridge side.
