After last week’s cancellation a decimated colts team took to the park in the National Plate. If it hadn’t been for 8 of the under 17s being available to play we would have had to have cancelled. With players turning up right until kick off the omens did not look good. However 15 players took to the pitch 12 forwards and three three-quarters to try a way past a fast well organized SWF team. A brave start but eventually the organization began to tell and SWF ran in 4 tries in the first half but Cambridge did not give up and scored first in the second half after numerous phases of forward play on the SWF line Fred and the rest of the forwards bulldozed over for a try converted by Chris Gee. Was this the turn around?  No as SWF ran in 4 more tries but Cambridge left the best to last, a dogged defence for five minutes a turn over and the ball was passed to Chris Gee 70 yards and most of the SWF team in his way, 10 seconds later Chris scored after running through three tackles and then out sprinting the SWF defence. A great individual try.

Final score 12-46.

A determined effort in extreme circumstances with all the Cambridge players keeping going for the whole match. It was summed up by the referee who commented after the match, considering no one knew who each other’s names a pretty good performance from the team.

Thanks again to the under 17s and good luck to SWF in the next round.
