CRUFC U13 22 - 0 BBOG PDF Print E-mail

For our opening pool match, the early start, the damp, the cold were soon forgotten after a key warm up, Cambridge attacked from k/o, BBOG won ball, but a loose pass was intercepted by Ryan Headington, into 5th gear all the way to the line for try # 1. Composed, Cambridge launched a series of searching attacks, blind & then open side, a delightful take by Toby Hackett was complimented by an incisive run well into BBOG territory, Hackett popped to wing man Finlay Owens, at full tilt, to place try # 2. By now, Headington was harrying the BBOG defence, his persistence paid off, a mean dummy sent them the wrong way & opened the gap he needed, popped to Sean Cooper to place try # 3 and was well supported by his fellow backs. BBOG defended their line well, reducing chances for the Cambridge backs to win ball, Sam Nery took a chance for a sneaky run at their line, but was shoved into touch, Sam Collicott then took great delight in messing up the BBOG line out. Undaunted, BBOG again attacked, this time it was Sam Buffery Turnell who launched himself high, stealing the line out, Cambridge, quick to see the chance, rucked the ball, Headington grabbed it & scarpered all the way to finish an excellent opening match for Cambridge to place try # 4. As we were only allowed to drop kick conversions, Marcus Jones took 1, scored 1, much to his delight.
