Our final pool match had all the hallmarks of a classic, both sides had won all their matches; this was the decider, do or die. The pressure told, an early break down the blind by Cambridge was pushed into touch, the lineout was fumbled, handled poorly, advantage lost. Fierce tackling by our forwards, William Parker ripping anything that looked sort of round finally forced a loose ball, scooped by Ryan Headington only to be frogmarched into touch. Kettering immediately return the compliment, tearing apart our defence, breaking down the blind only to be stopped by a brave Toby Hackett, back into touch. Cambridge countered and got bogged down in the middle, unable to make anything of the repeated penalty decisions going their way, Euan Dingwall & Patrick Marmion marshalled their defence & started scrapping, fiercely, for ball, Rory Sheppard managed to hold onto spinning ball with excellent support from Ollie Dakin, but back into touch, again. Cambridge tried again, this time Hackett pushed it to their line only to be bought down, Sean Cooper managed to rescue the loose ball & scamper over for a well deserved try #1. Not satisfied, Cambridge immediately started scrapping for more territory, Parker again ripping ball & eventually an excellent passage of forward pressure by Cambridge paid off, Louis Rawlings stealing another loose ball to feed Sheppard & power down the wing for try #2, with Marmion on overlap. A well-deserved & hard fought victory had us in the final; the whole team had earned this one.

Scorers:

Sean Cooper & Rory Sheppard
