Thought it cold int 1st match? that were nowt !.

A more assertive K/O had our boys busy from the off, William Parker burst through a defensive line & forgot to pass & stopped bursting, Louis Rawlings picked a loose ball from behind the scrum & went open, off loaded to Sean Cooper who went for the corner & made it with try # 1, nerves settled. We stopped the attack from K/O with a strong counter, Sam Collicott  destroyed a perfectly good line out, but lost possession for a Wharfdale attack only to be stopped be our front row, they broke again all the way to Marcus Jones (no pressure) who pulled his attacker & got the ball, out to Coops who broke from open to blind & found the corner for try # 2. Finlay Walker (the truffler), Sam Behagg & Collie battled through repeated rucks but couldn’t stop their 1st try reply, Wharfdale used this momentum that had Parker & Jones producing tackles to make their mothers weep, but got the ball back for another tourist surge. A battle Royale ensued, Jonno Bailey put in some battering tackles (mind those looks), Finlay used the repeated rucks to go truffling, eventually getting the ball to Coops to place his & our 3rd try. The 1st half finished notably, Luke Webb knocked anything over not wearing Red, Collie went tackling, well just everything, Parker ripped the ball whenever he was near it & Finlay perfected the art of truffling the ball from the ruck leaving the tourists 5 – 15 ahead.

Wharfdale showed their Yorkshire grit & ploughed into us, all the way to Jonesy who stole the ball for us to counter only to be turned over & pinned to our 22 where they eventually placed their 2nd & well deserved try. Yo yo rugby ensued wearing both sides down, Parker took a knock & Jonesy got his now customary concussion crack (wear a helmet), the injury delays were well used by Wharfdale to equalise, game on. Not wanting to be left out, Ryan Headington took a knee to the face on our 22, but still looked lovely when he came round, we countered, Jonesy hit the gas, sort of ran straight, then swerved (was it the knock?) & placed to go 5 ahead, game really on. Got to hand it to our hosts, they came straight back at us & equalised, if I could have felt my nails, I would have bit them, Behagg scrapped like a lion, but Wharfdale sensed victory, attacked blind & open to eventually place the winner. Great game, hosts, venue & experience, now where’s the clubhouse?
