Still God’s country! sun was still out, the Baabaa’s had just won our 1st game north of Sudbury, what could possibly go wrong?

A somewhat different Harrogate took the game to a somewhat battered Cambridge, a succession of scrums & a natty switch confused our backs for them to place try # 1.

Undeterred, Ryan Headington broke open side, switched blind to Matthew Holl who popped to Marcus Jones who was blocked & we all realised we had a bit of a game on here. We had another go, Ollie Dakin making 10 mtrs, which we lost on the scrum, we turned it over with Jonno Bailey feeding Patrick Marmion into their half & out to Ryan who was blocked, again. Harrogate pushed us back to our 22, then our line & placed try # 2, deservedly, but we came straight back, scrumming down on their 22, but got pushed into touch. We came again, using the backs & the wings, Marmion to Louis Rawlings to William Blackwell who switched to open for Finn Brown then out to Jonesy who got pushed off the park. We repeated the manoeuvre but just couldn’t break through, saved by the bell?

No, was it a flying boot or a hairdryer, neither, Sir Clive made a few observations & off we went, Marmion to Headington to Coops & bang, we were turned over & they placed # 3. Marmion broke again & was robbed; we then lost the lineout, our embarrassment saved by a powerful tackle from Rawlings. Toby Hackett stepped up & broke to Bryn Kendrick Jones who was pulled down & held on their try line, ball handling errors allowed our hosts to come piling back, but our forwards held them on our 22. Out of luck & out of subs, Jonesy pulled a bone breaking tackle to stop them on our line, spurred on, Hackett broke, out to Headington, back to Hackett, switched sides & back to Headington to finally break through & place our only try, was the tide turning? No, Harrogate came straight back & placed their 4th & final try to deservedly win. Yes we had lost 9 of our 28 to injury & had 3 on who normally would have been subbed, but we were beaten by a better team and got our own back when we sang to them in the clubhouse.
