Under 14s
The Cambridge U14 had a very successful season in 2007/08 (at U13 level) winning all but four of our friendly fixtures against opposition from the surrounding area. We also won the Cambs County Cup and, as a result of that, went on to compete at the Northampton Saints U13 tournament. The tournament took place at Franklins Gardens (on the training pitches) prior to the Doncaster match, against a number of teams from the
East Midlands region, many of whom we had not played before. We won all of our pool matches and went on the win the final. We were presented with our trophy at half time in the Saints game in the middle of the pitch in front of the home crowd. This was the highlight of our season and a very memorable day for all concerned.
Having had two very successful tours to
Ireland in recent years we decided to travel further afield. We went to
Holland to participate in the Hilversum Tournament where we ended up Runners Up. This really was an excellent weekend packed with rugby and other good entertainment. The plan for the 2008/09 season is to go somewhere sunny.
We have some players who started at U7 and others who began their rugby only this season. New players are always more than welcome and every effort is made to integrate them in to our squad of circa twenty five players. Training is on Sunday mornings at Wests Renault Park, Grantchester Road, between 10.30 and Midday and we have a full fixture list of both home and away matches throughout the area. We also train on a Tuesday evening at Grantchester under floodlights until the darkness, damp and cold get too much.
